Book Fulfillment + OrcCon Recap
25 days ago – Thu, Feb 20, 2025 at 02:09:24 PM

With delays and tariff uncertainties sorted out, the Let Us Build a Tower books have passed through US port and are on their way by freight to our fulfillment partner Indie Press Revolution’s shipment center in Nevada. From there they will be packaged with care and sent to backers around the world. Keep an eye out on your inboxes for tracking info in the next 3-5 weeks! Thanks again for all your patience over these tumultuous past few months.

As always, it was a delight seeing many of you at our booth and table at this past weekend’s OrcCon! Those late-night LUBAT and Black Death, Pale Fires playtest games were among the most fun I’ve ever run, and with some of the largest groups of players. Thanks for the unforgettable sessions and dealer’s hall conversations. I’m already counting the days until our next convention meetup at Gamex 2025.

Los Angeles Fires + All Books Printed
2 months ago – Fri, Jan 10, 2025 at 02:36:43 PM

Thank you to everyone who reached out to check in during the Los Angeles firestorms this week. Your concern is deeply touching. My partner, dogs, and I are safe at home with power again after several days’ outage in our neighborhood.

Unlike many of our friends and colleagues, we haven’t had to evacuate, despite yesterday’s false alarm evacuation alert. As the winds die down, it seems unlikely the fires will reach our neighborhood. We’re grateful to have made it through so far unscathed, though saddened to see so much destruction and loss. Anyone looking to help those affected can find donation information at the Mutual Aid LA Network.

While the fires did delay delivery, I just received the first two production copies of Let Us Build a Tower in deluxe and standard editions. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Both editions are beautifully bound, durable books I expect to last for lifetimes—and a wonderful showcase for the work of our talented artists.

LUBAT Deluxe Gold-Debossed Black Fabric Cover Sans Dust Jacket
LUBAT Deluxe Interior with bookmark

All the books in our run have been printed, and our printer is now shipping them to our US fulfillment partner, Indie Press Revolution. LUBAT will be shipping out from there to all our physical backers shortly after arriving.

Stay safe and well, and happy new year to all even amidst the world’s turmoil.

Entering Print Production + Digital Edition Update + 5e Conversion Kit Development
3 months ago – Tue, Dec 03, 2024 at 03:28:17 PM

I’m happy to announce that we are at last entering print production! The final Let Us Build a Tower proof looked stellar. And while a few errata are always inevitable, I feel great about the state of LUBAT as it goes to print. I can’t wait to get books into backer hands.

Our printer did give us an updated estimate of 4-5 weeks for production instead of the usual 3-4, due to all the specialty features in the Deluxe edition. Once done, they’ll be shipping to our fulfillment partner here in the US, from which we’ll get your books individually packed and off to you as soon as possible. I’ll continue to provide updates for each milestone, including when the books arrive at our fulfillment center.

Meanwhile, all backers of the Digital Edition tier and higher should have received the latest (and likely final) version of the preview PDF through BackerKit. It’s now not only hyperlinked and indexed, but also includes bookmarks for speedy section access in most every major PDF viewer.  I’m finding it an invaluable reference when running LUBAT online, and I bet you’ll find the same.

I’m also delighted to share that Thilo Graf (AKA Endzeitgeist) has come aboard to help build out the bestiary in our 5e Conversion Kit. Thilo brings extensive 5e design experience and many years of skilled RPG writing to the table. You might know Thilo’s work from other conversions such as that of the seminal Dolmenwood adventure Winter’s Daughter. Thilo is already hard at work turning our 5e Kit into something truly special, with encounters and creatures reimagined to challenge the creativity and skills of even the most seasoned parties. I’m especially hyped to show you what’s in store for the 5e Anunnaki.

Until next time, happy holidays, and thanks again for helping LUBAT hit production!

Timeline Update
4 months ago – Fri, Nov 08, 2024 at 05:52:06 PM

Hi folks, just a brief update this week. There were substantial delays this past month due to my finding errors each time we received printer proofs, all the result of my own oversights. While most of the errors were small and easily fixed, the proofing process can be a slow and torturous one. At the risk of being too much of a perfectionist, I want to get Let Us Build a Tower to you in as strong a shape as humanly possible.

The good news is that the latest digital proofs look great! Assuming the final hard copy proofs looks equally good when they arrive in the next few weeks, we can press the “Go” button and get the printing presses rolling. I will of course send an update to everyone before shipments to confirm shipping addresses are still up to date. Thanks again for your patience and your understanding.

Final PDF Preview + Shipping Addresses
5 months ago – Wed, Oct 16, 2024 at 02:59:19 PM

Digital Edition (Final Preview)

Hi everyone! Backers of all tiers who completed their BackerKit surveys should have received an email in the past 24 hours with the download link for an updated Let Us Build a Tower Digital Edition preview.

This PDF is essentially final, barring errata. It includes a hyperlinked table of contents, index, bookmarks, and clickable page number references throughout to make reading and running LUBAT a breeze. While it will still receive one last proofing pass, this is the game as it will be going to print imminently. So please do let us know right away ([email protected]) if you find any lingering typos or errors.

A substantial update to the web app beta is coming soon as well, incorporating updates from the final Digital Edition preview. After that, we’ll prioritize getting the other stretch goals completed and delivered to you via BackerKit.

Locking Addresses for Book Shipping

As we are about to go to print, your addresses must be locked in this week on BackerKit for delivery of the Deluxe and Standard Edition books. An email will go out with one last reminder 48 hours before final addresses are locked. If you need to change your shipping address after that, please reach out to me via direct message as soon as possible. For non-backers still looking to pick up LUBAT in print, this is also “last call” for the pre-order store.

Thanks for your patience as we near the finish line here. Our hope is you will all enjoy exploring LUBAT as much as we did building it!
