Entering Print Production + Digital Edition Update + 5e Conversion Kit Development

I’m happy to announce that we are at last entering print production! The final Let Us Build a Tower proof looked stellar. And while a few errata are always inevitable, I feel great about the state of LUBAT as it goes to print. I can’t wait to get books into backer hands.
Our printer did give us an updated estimate of 4-5 weeks for production instead of the usual 3-4, due to all the specialty features in the Deluxe edition. Once done, they’ll be shipping to our fulfillment partner here in the US, from which we’ll get your books individually packed and off to you as soon as possible. I’ll continue to provide updates for each milestone, including when the books arrive at our fulfillment center.
Meanwhile, all backers of the Digital Edition tier and higher should have received the latest (and likely final) version of the preview PDF through BackerKit. It’s now not only hyperlinked and indexed, but also includes bookmarks for speedy section access in most every major PDF viewer. I’m finding it an invaluable reference when running LUBAT online, and I bet you’ll find the same.
I’m also delighted to share that Thilo Graf (AKA Endzeitgeist) has come aboard to help build out the bestiary in our 5e Conversion Kit. Thilo brings extensive 5e design experience and many years of skilled RPG writing to the table. You might know Thilo’s work from other conversions such as that of the seminal Dolmenwood adventure Winter’s Daughter. Thilo is already hard at work turning our 5e Kit into something truly special, with encounters and creatures reimagined to challenge the creativity and skills of even the most seasoned parties. I’m especially hyped to show you what’s in store for the 5e Anunnaki.
Until next time, happy holidays, and thanks again for helping LUBAT hit production!
Timeline Update

Hi folks, just a brief update this week. There were substantial delays this past month due to my finding errors each time we received printer proofs, all the result of my own oversights. While most of the errors were small and easily fixed, the proofing process can be a slow and torturous one. At the risk of being too much of a perfectionist, I want to get Let Us Build a Tower to you in as strong a shape as humanly possible.
The good news is that the latest digital proofs look great! Assuming the final hard copy proofs looks equally good when they arrive in the next few weeks, we can press the “Go” button and get the printing presses rolling. I will of course send an update to everyone before shipments to confirm shipping addresses are still up to date. Thanks again for your patience and your understanding.

Digital Edition (Final Preview)
Hi everyone! Backers of all tiers who completed their BackerKit surveys should have received an email in the past 24 hours with the download link for an updated Let Us Build a Tower Digital Edition preview.
This PDF is essentially final, barring errata. It includes a hyperlinked table of contents, index, bookmarks, and clickable page number references throughout to make reading and running LUBAT a breeze. While it will still receive one last proofing pass, this is the game as it will be going to print imminently. So please do let us know right away ([email protected]) if you find any lingering typos or errors.
A substantial update to the web app beta is coming soon as well, incorporating updates from the final Digital Edition preview. After that, we’ll prioritize getting the other stretch goals completed and delivered to you via BackerKit.
Locking Addresses for Book Shipping
As we are about to go to print, your addresses must be locked in this week on BackerKit for delivery of the Deluxe and Standard Edition books. An email will go out with one last reminder 48 hours before final addresses are locked. If you need to change your shipping address after that, please reach out to me via direct message as soon as possible. For non-backers still looking to pick up LUBAT in print, this is also “last call” for the pre-order store.
Thanks for your patience as we near the finish line here. Our hope is you will all enjoy exploring LUBAT as much as we did building it!

Hi folks, thanks for your patience with the final stretch of pre-production. We now have print prototypes for the standard edition in hand and are almost ready to begin production. These prototypes lack the same high-quality binding as the final offset units will have, but they’re already looking great at the table according to our Strategicon players!
This and next week will be spent finishing the last round of edits and proofing so we can get the orders in with the printer by the end of the month. Assuming no further snags, that means physical orders will start shipping in October. Digital backers can expect a final version of the PDF around the same time, along with an updated version of the Tower Builder app.
Meanwhile, please do let us know via [email protected] if you find any errors or discrepancies in the preview PDF. There’s always a chance you’re the first one to catch one, and there’s still time to fix it! I’ll continue to run games of LUBAT on our Discord server at https://discord.gg/4RnTN4g2sC, though at a less frequent pace in September while I focus on getting the print books out to backers.

Digital Edition Preview
The day is here! At last, you can read and play Let Us Build a Tower at your leisure. Each backer with a Digital Edition reward has been sent their Backer Preview PDF and access token link for the Tower Builder web app beta via Backerkit. If you didn’t receive your Backerkit files, please visit https://let-us-build-a-tower.backerkit.com/ and follow the instructions to gain access. Ensure your order has been "locked down." If that doesn’t work, reach out to me via direct message, and we’ll get things sorted.
This Digital Edition Preview PDF isn’t quite final. The final release version will have Table of Contents hyperlinks and page number references (which have “p.XX” placeholders at the moment). It’s also getting one last round of editing and proofreading thanks to recent expansions and changes based on playtester feedback.
Please let us know about any errors you find by emailing [email protected] with the page number (screenshots are also helpful). I recommend checking whether we’ve displayed your name correctly in the Kickstarter Backers acknowledgments. We’ll be sure to get reported errors fixed for final PDF and print. You can use the same email to report any bugs you find on the Tower Builder web app. Feedback about your favorite parts of the game is always welcome too!
The Tower Builder (Web App Beta)
To access the Tower Builder web app beta, visit your access token link received via Backerkit on your phone or computer. This link is unique to your Backer profile, so please don’t share it with anyone. Be sure to bookmark it for easy future access.
Add the Tower Builder to your iPhone home screen by visiting your access token link in your browser, tapping the Share arrow, then selecting “Add to Home Screen.” Android users can do the same by tapping the triple-dot menu, then selecting “Add to Home screen.”
Use the Tower Builder by clicking or tapping Chambers on the map to receive descriptions of them and their Features below. Use the arrow buttons ↓ and ↑ to navigate between Floors of the Tower. Press the various buttons to generate Events, Treasures, Traps, Divine Transformations, dice rolls, and more. Generate a new Tower by refreshing the page or pressing the “Regenerate Tower” button at the bottom right.
LUBAT Discord Server
Looking to play right away? Join the new Let Us Build a TowerDiscord server at https://discord.gg/4RnTN4g2sC. Meet fellow players and referees, chat about LUBAT, and join upcoming online game sessions. I’ll be running a game myself next Sunday, August 11th. Check the Discord event for time and signups. Hope to see you there!
